Registration

1. How do I find my number of earned credit hours?
2. I don't understand DegreeWorks! The website for the Registrar's Office has some tutorials and helpful info. Use this (and the "Look up classes" link in myBama) to plan out your courses and prep for your advising appointments.
3. Which classes can I take that will classify as a core requirement for my gen. ed. courses? This is a link to a list of the options for core requirements. You can also contact an A&S advisor at (205) 348-5970 or their website, www.as.ua.edu.
4. When can I register for classes? The Registrar's Office should post this info at least a couple of weeks before registration opens. 
5. What do I need to know about priority registration?
6. How do I register for classes? Tip: for some reason, not all classes will show up in Schedule Builder, so make sure you are also using the "look up classes" feature in the Student tab on myBama.
7. How do I apply for graduation? Other info re: graduation (including a handy checklist!) can also be found on the Arts & Sciences website.
8. How do I get an override into a class? Please note that CCJ advisors and office admin cannot grant overrides for courses in other departments.
9. How does the waitlist work?
10. I'm interested in taking classes elsewhere over the summer; how will those classes transfer to UA? Click for the Registrar's Office transfer equivalency tables. 
11. I took a class somewhere else, but it isn't showing up on my DegreeWorks. You'll need to contact the Registrar's Office. You can call their office at (205) 348-2020 or visit their website (linked).
12. Do I have to have a minor? Yep. A minor is required for the CCJ degree, unless you have a second major.
13. What are my options for a minor? The UA Career Center can help!
14. I'm interested in the CJ 395 Internship. Mr. Doug Klutz is the Internship Director for the CJ major. See the linked page for more information, including contact info for Mr. Klutz.

​Cyber Criminology Minor

1. CC 301/401 is full, but I'm graduating before it will be offered again! What do I do?
2. How do I get "instructor permission" for CC 402?
3. Can I apply CJ 300 to both my major and the CC minor if I'm majoring in CCJ? Nope. 
4. I'm having trouble finding electives to take and I graduate soon. If you are a CJ major, CJ 300 can be "reassigned" so that it applies to your progress on the CC minor instead of your major. There are two caveats, though: 1) you will need to take another upper level CJ course to replace CJ 300 in your major, and 2) once CJ 300 has been applied elsewhere, this cannot be undone. To request this plan alteration, please email an acknowledgment of the previous two points to kntreadway@ua.edu; be sure to include your CWID.
5. Do I have to take prerequisites prior to the elective courses? Of the available electives, CC 201 is the prerequisite for all CC elective courses except PY 368. PY 368 requires the successful completion of PY 101 or PY 105. However, you will need an override into the course to bypass the prereq requirement. To request a prerequisite exemption, follow the CCJ department procedure for override requests, but be sure to also include your major and minor info.
