What are my options if I'm struggling to get into a CC class I need?
CC 301 and CC 401 are only open to juniors and seniors in order to ensure our CC minors can get the classes they need before they graduate. Unfortunately, students may still face difficulties when it comes to registering for these extremely popular courses. This is why it is so important for students with a CC minor, especially seniors, to meet with their advisor early so they can sign up for the courses they need as soon as registration opens.
If you don’t want to risk not being able to get into the class and you don’t want to stay longer just to complete your minor, you could switch to the Computing Tech & Applications minor (in the Computer Science Department).
There is a bit of overlap between the CTA minor and the CC minor:
Things to know about the CTA minor:
As for the specific CC courses you have already taken, they will apply as electives to your degree. Most students need a few classes in electives anyway. Also, you can always list them specifically on your resume to give it a cyber "boost".

There is a bit of overlap between the CTA minor and the CC minor:
- Both require 18 unique credits.
- CS 202 is either a required course or elective for both minors (though it will not apply to both simultaneously).
- CS 340 is an elective for both minors (though it will not apply to both simultaneously)
Things to know about the CTA minor:
- A sequence is required. If you have taken CS 202 or CS 340, I suggest taking either CS 205 or CS 345 to complete the sequence. The remaining required credits are electives.
- Some courses are prerequisites for others (e.g. CS 285 is a prerequisite for CS 385).
- The only programming is html.
- No extra math classes should be needed.
