CJ 304 Grade Determination
The course is worth a total of 400 points.
To determine your grade, add the number of points you earn on each assignment and divide that sum by 400.
Most assignments will build on the previous ones, and you should use feedback given for each submission to refine and improve upcoming assignments. A more detailed rubric of each assignment will be provided to you via Blackboard in the upcoming weeks.
Participation
|
Your class presence may be assessed in a variety of ways, such as chapter notes, a "minute paper", discussion question to present to the class, individual or group activity, question/quiz about the reading, individual or class workshop, attendance sheet, etc. These activities may take place in class or via virtual submission (e.g., Blackboard).
Assignments will be graded based on correct completion. Final grades for participation will be calculated as follows:

Topic Proposal
|
One paragraph (a few sentences) about your proposed paper topic.

Annotated Bibliography (10 points)
|
An annotated bibliography provides a brief overview of the available research on a topic. You will briefly summarize and evaluate the scholarly research on your chosen topic related to gender and crime. To complete this assignment, you will review a relevant section from your textbook, plus 3 peer-reviewed sources (not books, websites, government reports, etc.) for the final paper.

Outline for Lit Review

Your outline will include the title of your literature review paper, primary topics to be addressed
in the body of the literature review, and the relevant section(s) of your textbook plus 6 examples of peer-reviewed sources (not books, websites, government reports, etc.) that will be cited in your literature review. Additionally, your sources must be submitted in APA format. |
Parts 1-3 of Lit Review

You will be submitting your Lit Review piece by piece.

Literature Review
|
You will review the literature on your specific chosen topic. The literature review should be 3-4 pages of text (excluding title page and references) and should include the following sections:
Only the course textbook and peer-reviewed journal articles (i.e., scholarly articles) may be used.
Correct APA style and good organization/writing will also be evaluated. |
Final Exam
|
A cumulative assessment covering the textbook and lecture material from the semester. |
